The Electronic Intifada
Sep 8, 2024
Hopes for an imminent deal to end the American-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza appear to be fading, amid Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s insistence on keeping Gaza under occupation indefinitely.
Despite the Biden administration’s claim that it is working “tirelessly” to reach a ceasefire, the one thing that would bring one about quickly – curtailing the US arms supply to Israel – is not on the table.
Meanwhile, Israel continues to expand its all-out attack on the Palestinian people, from Gaza to the northern West Bank, where for more than a week, occupation forces have besieged towns and refugee camps, cut off water and electricity, destroyed infrastructure and killed and injured dozens of people.
Nora Barrows-Friedman covers some of the latest developments in our news brief. This is a segment from The Electronic Intifada's day 334 livestream. Ali Abunimah, Nora Barrows-Friedman, Jon Elmer and Asa Winstanley were joined by contributor Abubaker Abed from the Gaza Strip, and Hatem Abudayyeh, the national chair of the US Palestinian Community Network.
