The head of State stated that he has answered the questions and has not shunned any of those posed by the judges.

The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro appeared this Friday before the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) to deliver the relevant electoral elements to clarify the events related to the presidential elections of last July 28.

After reading the minutes of the hearing, the President answered the questions of the judges and the President of the TSJ Electoral Chamber, Caryslia Rodríguez, and provided the requested documents.

In a dialogue with the media on his departure from the TSJ, the president assured that he came in the name of peace, stability and the right to tranquility.

“I have attended the court summons, I have stripped myself of the figure of Head of State and of any investiture. I am only the citizen Nicolás Maduro Moros, who attended the summons for peace, stability and the right to tranquility”, he said.

“I have answered the questions and have not shunned any questions that have been asked of me by the judges. Nine out of 10 candidates have complied with the law, only one has refused to face a candidate who is hiding, who orders people to kill, calls for violence, but does not face a country. I have shown my face and will always do so”, he said.

The president-elect also stressed that, “the electoral power called on the 10 candidates to sign the agreement to respect the results. This man does not make his own decisions, he is a puppet tied by the terrorist Machado, who called him and told him not to go”.

The hearings began last Wednesday and included 38 political parties that were represented by candidates during the election, most of which requested the records requested by the high court. Similarly, the president stressed that “the people are in the streets to respect institutions and peace. Face justice, you cannot continue to commit crimes in the country”.

The President was accompanied by the Vice-Presidents of different areas, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, and other government figures. On 31 July, the president filed a contentious appeal with the TSJ Electoral Chamber to investigate what happened during the presidential elections of 28 July.

The outcome of the investigations is expected to be announced in the coming days.
