Venezuela rejects warlike statements by the president of Guyana
Venezuela denounces that President Ali has shown conduct contrary to the commitments assumed in the 1966 Geneva Agreement.
Through an Official Communiqué, Venezuela rejected the warlike statements issued by the President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, during a media show held on Friday, October 27, in the territory of Guyana Esequiba.
The information was announced by the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil through a publication on his social network account “X,” where he reiterated Venezuela's call for diplomatic dialogue.
In the letter, Venezuela denounces that President Ali has shown conduct contrary to the commitments assumed in the Geneva Agreement of 1966, which outlines a protocol for resolving the territorial dispute between Guyana and Venezuela.
Likewise, he again denounced Exxon Mobil's capture of the entire Guyanese leadership, who the transnational use to threaten and attack the Venezuelan people and steal our resources.
The full text from Caracas on October 28th reads as follows:
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the warlike statements issued by the President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, during a media show held on Friday, October 27, in the territory of Guayana Esequiba. Following instructions from the United States Southern Command, which has given him the order to escalate his actions, President Ali has shown conduct contrary to the commitments made in the 1966 Geneva Agreement, which defines the path to follow to resolve the territorial dispute between Guyana and Venezuela. Venezuela denounces, once again, the purchase of the entire Guyanese leadership by Exxon Mobil, a transnational that designs plans to threaten and attack the Venezuelan people, and steals the resources that belong to them. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in defense of its legitimate and historical rights over Guayana Esequiba, urges the Cooperative Republic of Guyana to discard the war race, assume diplomatic dialogue and abandon illegal actions, contrary to the Geneva Agreement, which is the valid instrument for the resolution of the territorial controversy between both countries.
The National Electoral Council (CNE) announced last Friday, October 20, that the consultative referendum on Guayana Esequiba would take place December 3rd.
On Monday, October 23, the electoral entity issued the five questions that voters answered at the event, shown below:
Do you agree to reject by all means, in accordance with the Law, the line fraudulently imposed by the Paris Arbitration Award of 1899, which seeks to deprive us of our Guayana Esequiba?
Do you support the 1966 Geneva Agreement as the only valid legal instrument to reach a practical and satisfactory solution for Venezuela and Guyana regarding the controversy over the territory of Guayana Esequiba?
Do you agree with Venezuela's historical position of not recognizing the Jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice to resolve the territorial controversy over Guayana Esequiba?
Do you agree to oppose, by all legal means, Guyana's claim to unilaterally dispose of a sea pending delimitation, illegally and in violation of international law?
Do you agree with the creation of the Guayana Esequiba state and the development of an accelerated plan for comprehensive care for the current and future population of that territory that includes, among others, the granting of citizenship and Venezuelan identity card in accordance with the Geneva Agreement and international law, consequently incorporating said state on the map of Venezuelan territory?
The head of state, Nicolás Maduro, in the program “Con Maduro +” rejected the “warlike, disrespectful and illegal” statements of the president of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, regarding the consultative referendum on Guayana Esequiba, convened by the National Assembly (AN ) and emphasized that these provocations would have a forceful response on Sunday, December 3rd.
"We here are serene, balanced, firm and preparing for the great consultative referendum because they are challenging the People of Venezuela and we have a clear way to respond to the provocations of the Southern Command, of ExxonMobil, of the paid politicians and the warlike pretensions of Guyana: on December 3, going out to vote en masse for Essequibo,” he stated.
President Maduro alluded to the recent pronouncement of his counterpart Irfaan Ali who, during a visit to Guayana Esequiba, appeared in military uniform and affirmed that his country will not give up even an “inch” of the territory to Venezuela.
He highlighted the double standards of international organizations and the media, who gave a complete pass to Ali, a protégé of the imperialists:
“If Nicolás Maduro, president of Venezuela, went to the territory adjacent to Guayana Esequiba, dressed as a military man and said what the President of Guyana said, what would the international media have said? They were already calling a session of the Security Council, but since a protégé of ExxonMobil does it, it is normal,” he denounced.
He repudiated the “reckless appeal” that Guyana introduced before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to stop Venezuela's consultative referendum. Regarding this, he confirmed that the South American nation does not recognize the jurisdiction of this organization in the case of Essequibo.
“The reckless resort that Guyana has made will have a direct response from the truth of Venezuela in the instance that we have to respond,” he announced and stressed that the main response to Guyana's threats is in the hands of Venezuelans, which is why he reiterated the call to the People to participate massively in the referendum.
“On December 3, the consultative referendum is happening because it just is. On December 3, the People will respond to you with an affirmative vote for the integral unity of Venezuela,” he noted.
This writer would add firmly that we Venezuelans have a rightful claim over our territory, our ancestors land; that which is rightfully ours! We have a policy of diplomacy and peace, but we are also the Bolivarian Armed Forces which 213 years ago defeated the Spanish Empire and liberated half of South América from the largest empire of that time! We do not seek out war with the imperialists, but are also unafraid of it. Should they seek to intervene further, we wouldn't hesitate to sink the Empire's ships and strike a blow to that war machine from hell! No pasarán!
We are the Liberators, not the Oppresors! Hasta la Victoria Siempre! Venceremos!
